Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM) is an annual celebration of influence and achievements of the Pan-Asian community. Held every May, it is a time for recognizing the central role of Pan-Asian people around the globe.
To celebrate #APAHM, IBM and the Asian Executive Diversity Council have coordinated events focused on the theme: “Embracing Identity and Celebrating our Community”. This statement elevates the individual that resides within a greater community and honors the achievements and contributions as a collective.
At IBM, we believe in the power of storytelling and its ability to inspire and transcend divides. It is incredibly important to offer all employees a platform to share their culture, experiences, and accomplishments. Throughout the month of May, we are showcasing Pan-Asian IBMer accomplishments and career journeys, and curating events that foster positive educational exchanges with all communities.
In partnership with Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP), IBM is also holding company-wide internal panels entitled “Insight into Asian Culture & Understanding the Asian Professional” and “Insights into the Asian Leader”. These events are followed by a panel discussion to discuss the importance of Allyship and standing against xenophobia.
The multi-cultural communities of IBM believe that it is essential to champion one another, support one another, be upstanders in the community, and to cultivate an environment conducive to all IBMers, feeling supported in bringing their whole selves to work.
